Albert Embankment Office Space

Albert Embankment is a section of the River Thames’s south side riverbank in Central London within the borough of Lambeth.

It stretches approximately one mile (1.6 km) between Vauxhall Bridge and Westminster Bridge and was created in 1868 to form a new highway and open space. It was part of the wider Thames embanking works that transformed its marshlands into the metropolis London is today.

Albert Embankment is also the name of the section of the A3036 road between Lambeth Bridge and Vauxhall Bridge, which adjoins Lambeth Palace Road and Lambeth Road.

The area is renowned for its iconic buildings. On the west side of this road is the Secret Intelligence Service (SIS) building, also known as the Vauxhall Cross Building.

On the east side, nearer to Lambeth Bridge, is the International Maritime Organization (IMO) building, which houses the only London-based element of the United Nations (UN).

Its formation evolved from the Safety of Life at Sea Convention (SOLAS), adopted in 1914 following the Titanic disaster. The specialised agency responsible for regulating maritime transport was established following an agreement at a UN conference held in Geneva in 1948.

The current headquarters, which faces the River Thames, was opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 1983. The front of the unique building is dominated by a seven-metre-high, ten-tonne bronze sculpture of a ship’s bow, with a lone seafarer maintaining a lookout.

On the east side is also the former headquarters of the London Fire Brigade. In the Thames, opposite the building, is London’s only river fire station, home to two fireboats.

Also facing the Thames is Tintagel House, the Metropolitan Police’s base for half a century from 1960 and where the force’s first computer was located.

The area holds the keys to a great deal of London’s history, and it and its surrounding locale continue to evolve. This includes the neighbouring Nine Elms, which is home to the regenerated Battersea Power Station, within which technology titan Apple rents office space, and the United States Embassy, which formally opened in 2018.

The increasingly popular district offers a chic riverside setting with an array of amenities, so it is no surprise that it is also the location of prime apartments that offer stunning views of Millbank on the opposite banks of the river, Parliament, and Westminster.

Chosen by institutions and prestigious organisations, the office space on Albert Embankment offers first-class business accommodations with 5-star amenities in a highly sought-after location.

In addition to conventionally leased office space for rent, Albert Embankment and the surrounding areas offer a growing range of flexible office space and workspace solutions that combine agility and efficiency.

On offer are private serviced office suites and larger pre-fitted managed offices and floors. These options are ready-furnished and provide ‘plug and play’ solutions that are managed on the occupier’s behalf.

These are paid for through a once-monthly all-inclusive rent that covers items such as utilities, cleaning, reception services, enterprise-grade internet services, and other overheads that would be typically paid for and managed separately if renting an office in Albert Embankment via a conventional office lease.

As these office spaces are let by way of a licence, occupying clients have the freedom to efficiently modify their footprint by downsizing or upsizing in line with changing business requirements.

The prime office buildings are designed and managed in an ESG-considered way, appealing to those looking for space that suits their sustainable credentials while offering a wide range of amenities.

Communal amenities include kitchens, meeting and boardrooms, quiet zones, focus booths, and, in many cases, gyms, cafés, and outdoor areas such as terraces and roof gardens.

These complement the conveniences that are offered by the Albert Embankment locale that range from state-of-the-art floatation tank centres to iconic 19th century public houses such as The Jolly Gardeners that was frequented by Charlie Chaplin Snr and featured in blockbuster London crime comedy film Snatch, recently revived to offer an exceptional and eclectic food menu and selected South London brewed beers.

Many of the premium office buildings offer end-of-trip amenities such as bicycle storage, showers, and changing facilities for those who wish to use their own steam to commute to the office.

However, the area also offers excellent public transportation links via Vauxhall train and London Unground stations.
