Office Space near Goodge Street

Goodge Street office space refers to the business accommodation on the relatively short thoroughfare that runs through Fitzrovia within the London Borough of Camden.

Historically, Goodge Street was both a residential and shopping quarter, as evidenced by records from the 1700s that show properties were used for a mix of functions.

It remains a mixed-use location with high-end residential properties, prime office spaces, retail and leisure facilities.

The University of London is nearby, as is the British Museum, the world’s oldest museum (founded in 1759) and London’s most visited attraction. The world-class amenities and attractions of the West End are a short stroll away, and closer to home are celebrated restaurants, such as the Michelin-starred 64 Goodge Street, which offers a menu based on classical French cooking.

Goodge Street’s Central London location means that it and its locale offer an eclectic range of office space options, including Grade A offices for rent in modern buildings, design-led flexible workspaces created by award-winning architects in elegantly renovated properties, and private serviced and managed office spaces in beautifully modernised residential and commercial properties.

Whilst many businesses choose to rent office space near Goodge Street on conventional leasehold terms, the area offers a growing number of flexible office space options.

Also known as flex space, these include self-contained private serviced offices, managed office spaces and corporate co-working memberships.

In contrast to leased offices, these are occupied via flexible licences, which provide businesses with the option to extend terms and expand into larger office suites in line with business growth. Many offices near Goodge Street can provide space for over 250 desks.

Equally, the agile licences allow a business to be nimble and contract into a smaller suite as needed.

Flexible offices are priced fully inclusively, so the one monthly fee covers overheads including rent, utilities, cleaning, enterprise-grade superfast and secure IT systems, furnishings, refreshments, and other items such as reception and secretarial services.

Private serviced offices are fully furnished with lockable suites, and clients enjoy premium communal amenities such as bookable meeting rooms, breakout spaces, quiet zones, fitness facilities, and cafes.

Managed offices are ready-fitted, but the client can customise the fit-out and furnishings. They can specify private reception areas, meeting and board rooms, hot desking zones, executive office suites, kitchens, bathrooms, and shower facilities and choose a bespoke service level package.

The amenity-rich, sustainable buildings are managed in an environmentally friendly and ESG-considered way. They offer end-of-trip facilities such as bicycle storage, showers, and changing facilities for self-powered commuters.

However, there are excellent public transportation links close by, including Goodge Street station.

This station was opened in 1907 under the name Tottenham Court Road; however, it was changed to its present name in 1908. The current Tottenham Court Road station is a short walk away at the road’s junction with Oxford Street.

Goodge Street station has a rich and important past. It was one of eight London Underground stations used as a deep-level air-raid shelter during World War II.

The Allied Forces used it as a base, and in June 1944, General Eisenhower broadcast the announcement of Operation Overlord, the invasion of France.

Incidentally, General Eisenhower’s London Headquarters were located nearby at 20 Grosvenor Square, and it was announced in 2017 that the building had been converted into super-prime luxury residences.

Much of the BBC’s Doctor Who serial was filmed in the shelter at Goodge Street underground station in the 1960s.
