Leicester Square Office Space

Leicester Square office space is associated with the location that first comes to the mind when thinking of Central London, a buzz of excitement against the backdrop of listed sculptures and buildings.

Occupiers included Frederick, Prince of Wales, a patron of the arts. He heard the first rendition of Rule Britannia at his home in 1740, and his favour of it led to its becoming one of the best-known British patriotic songs. Poet James Thomson wrote the words to it at The Dove pub in Hammersmith.

Artist William Hogarth also resided in Leicester Square. He famously created the 1751 print entitled Gin Lane, depicting the Gin Craze that centred around the West End district of St Giles.

A fellow occupier was Sir Joshua Reynolds, described as one of the foremost European painters of the 18th century. His famously prolific studio produced over 2,000 paintings during his lifetime, and he was the first President of the Royal Academy.

Leicester Square became more downmarket in the late 18th century as Leicester House was demolished and retail developments took place, transforming it into an entertainment centre.

Major theatres were built around Leicester Square in the 19th century. These were converted to cinemas towards the middle of the 20th Century and are now the setting of no less than 52 red carpet film premieres annually, as well as various celebrity events.

The square was extensively refurbished and remodelled for the 2012 Summer Olympics at a cost of more than £15 million, and today, it hosts Europe’s biggest sweet shop, M&M’s World, and the largest LEGO Store in the world.

It is also home to hip and 5-star hotels, including The Londoner Hotel, the Radisson Blu, and the W London.
