Moorgate Office Space

Moorgate office space is based around a thoroughfare that passes through the ancient Roman wall built to protect Londinium, thus representing a profound passage through time.

Moorgate was one of the northern gates in the ancient wall and was the last to be built. It took the name from the marshy land named Moorfields that lay north of the wall.

The Moorfields were an extensive area of open land later home to the Bethlem Royal Hospital, also known as Bedlam, Europe’s oldest psychiatric hospital, from 1676 to 1815. Today, it is home to the Moorfields Eye Hospital on City Road.

London Wall is the road that follows the ancient protective boundary line, and some of the 2,000-year-old ruins can be viewed in the underground car park of a modern office building close to the junction of Moorgate and London Wall.

Above ground, St Alphage Gardens, the site of the 14th-century church, also contains remnants of the wall. The gardens were created from the former churchyard in 1872.

The earliest descriptions of Moorgate date from the early 15th century, when it was described as only a postern in the London city wall, located between Bishopsgate and Cripplegate. The old postern was replaced in 1415, enlarged in 1472 and 1511, and damaged in the Great Fire of London in 1666.

The Roman gate was demolished in 1762, along with most of the other London city wall gates, but it gave its name to a major street, Moorgate, laid out in 1834.

Today, the EC2 district street runs north from Princes Street and Lothbury to the rear of the Bank of England, across the London Wall road at the location of the ancient gate.

Chosen by prestigious institutions, including the Guildhall Faculty of Business and Law and the Fashion Retail Academy, both at Electra House, and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wale at the Chartered Accountants’ Hall, on Moorgate Place, as well as high-profile organisations, including modern international flexible workspace providers, Moorgate attracts a diverse range of occupiers.

Office space is available within brand-new, purpose-built Grade A office buildings with ultramodern amenities, and sophisticatedly renovated and retrofitted heritage properties that have been adapted to provide state-of-the-art business technologies and five-star amenities.

In addition to conventionally leased office space for rent, Moorgate and the surrounding areas offer a growing range of flexible office space and workspace solutions that combine agility and efficiency.

Modern flex space options include private serviced office suites and larger pre-fitted managed offices and floors. These options are ready-furnished and provide ‘plug and play’ solutions managed on the occupier’s behalf.

These are paid for through a once-monthly all-inclusive rent covering items such as utilities, cleaning, reception services, enterprise-grade internet services, and other overheads typically paid for and managed separately if renting an office in Moorgate via a conventional office lease.

Managed office spaces are ready-fitted, and the client leads the furnishing and fit-out process. Custom offices can include private reception areas, meeting rooms, executive suites, open-plan working areas, hot-desking zones, kitchens, and bathrooms, and clients can select a bespoke service level pack that best suits their needs. The self-contained offices can be a suite, a cluster of suites, a floor or span several floors.

The private serviced offices are fully furnished, fitted, and equipped with state-of-the-art business technologies. Clients enjoy premium shared amenities, including bookable meeting and boardrooms, breakout spaces, lounges, quiet zones, fully stocked kitchens, fitness and wellness facilities, cafes, and outdoor spaces.

As these office spaces are let by way of a licence, occupying clients have the freedom to efficiently modify their footprint by upsizing in line with changing business requirements.

Many offices in Moorgate offer space for 500 desks or more. Tenants can also be agile and downsize their footprint as needs dictate.

The prime office buildings are designed and managed in an ESG-considered way, appealing to those looking for space that suits their sustainable credentials while offering a wide range of amenities.

The high-end, environmentally friendly office properties in Moorgate offer modern end-of-journey facilities such as bicycle storage, showers, lockers and changing rooms for self-powered commuters.

However, Moorgate Station offers rail and underground services, and Liverpool Street Station is also nearby.
